Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Pearlexa ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile and web applications (the "App"), in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the policies of Google Play and the Apple App Store.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all users of the Pearlexa App, including those who download or access the App via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and any related services we provide.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate and support the App:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Device identifiers: serial number & one-time authentication token read directly from your Pearlexa device during setup (these are not provided by you)
  • Temporary Wi-Fi SSID & password (sent locally to the device, never stored on Pearlexa servers)
  • Aggregated, anonymized usage data (app version, OS, basic device metrics)
  • Content of any support communications you send us

We do not collect location data, camera images, microphone recordings, contacts, or any other personal data.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data solely to:

  • Create and maintain your account & device list
  • Verify and link hardware (serial number & token confirm each Pearlexa device is genuine)
  • Transmit your chosen Wi-Fi credentials to a new device during setup
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
  • Send important notices (e.g., security alerts, updates)
  • Improve and analyze the App using anonymized metrics
  • Comply with legal obligations and App-store policies

5. Legal Basis (for EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on:

  • Consent for optional features (e.g., notifications)
  • Contract performance to provide core functionality
  • Legal obligation to comply with Sri Lankan law and App-store rules
  • Legitimate interests to improve and secure our services

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose data to:

  • Service providers (under confidentiality agreements)
  • Legal authorities if required by Sri Lankan law or court order
  • Acquirers in the event of a merger or sale of assets (with notice)

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards—encryption, secure servers, access controls—to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure; absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

8. Data Retention

  • Account data (name, email, device tokens): kept until you delete your account or request erasure
  • Anonymized usage data: retained for up to 12 months for analytics
  • Support communications: retained for up to 6 months for quality control
  • Wi-Fi credentials: never stored on Pearlexa servers; removed from the app once provisioning is complete

9. Children's Privacy

Our App is intended for users 13 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us to have it deleted.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in Sri Lanka or in countries where our service providers reside. By using the App, you consent to such transfers under Sri Lankan law.

11. App-Store Disclosures & Tracking

  • We provide this Privacy-Policy URL in our store submissions and declare collected data types accurately.
  • Pearlexa does not track users for advertising and does not share data with ad networks.
  • We comply with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) and Google Play user-data policies.

12. Users' Rights & Choices

You may access, correct, or delete your data at any time:

  • Use the Delete Account option in Account Settings to remove your profile and associated device data immediately.
  • Or email us at support@pearlexa.com to request deletion, objection to processing, or withdrawal of consent. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

13. Third-Party Links

Our App may contain links to third-party websites or services not operated by us. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as regulations change or our practices evolve. We will post the revised policy here with an updated "Last Updated" date and notify you of material changes via email or in-App notice.
